Family assaulted by Muslim League activists; Mother and child among the injured

KASARAGOD: Family including a mother and child were left injured in an assault by Muslim League workers at Kanhangad. After getting inside their residence, Abdul Hameed, wife Kunji Paathu, son Abdul Basith, daughter Sharbanu, and a three-year-old child were attacked by Muslim League activists. The injured were entered into district hospital for expert treatment.

M.P. Jaffar, Municipality Standing Committee Chairman and the League President of Kanhangad Constituency, and General Secretary Abdul Rahman lead the attack. Three cents of land was bought for building Muslim League office near Abdul Hameed’s house. The entrance to this property was only through Abdul Hameed’s residence. There is a dispute regarding this.

Abdul Hameed’s family received frequent threats from the party due to this. Muslim League had joined as party in the dispute case. The court had appointed a commission in the case. Abdul Hameed’s family said that they were assaulted after the commission’s inspection. Meanwhile, Jaffar and Abdul have sought treatment at a hospital claiming that they were assaulted by Abdul Hameed’s family.
