T’puram: 54 booked for mindless waste disposal
Sunday, December 04, 2011: The City Corporation’s health squads have registered case against 54 persons who were found dumping waste in public places. These persons were slapped with a fine of Rs 18,000 each.
The unhealthy practice of carelessly throwing away waste on roads and lanes by the residents is on the rise in state. In the coming days, police action against waste dumping would be strengthened,” sources said.
Stringent action would be taken against those found dumping waste in public places and roadsides in the backdrop of a recent High Court verdict, corporation secretary said. The public may alert the 24-hour squads by calling 94964 34517, the statement said.
