Wednesday, December 28, 2011: The Vigilance team today recorded the statement of Opposition leader and CPM stalwart VS Achuthanandan’s personal staff in connection with the illegal allocation of land to VS’ relative, T K Soman allegedly without following the rules.The vigilance team headed by Kozhikode range SP Habeeb Rahman recorded the statements of Suresh, personal assistant of Achuthanandan. Meanwhile Achuthanandan termed as baseless the allegations in connection with the land allotment row.
It is alleged that 2.33 acres of land in the northern Kasargod district was given to Soman, an ex-serviceman, at below the market value. The land was allotted in 2010, with a rider that it could not be sold for 25 years.
