Tuesday, December 27, 2011: Mandala Pooja marking the concluding ritual of the 41-day-long first phase of the annual pilgrimage, was held at Lord Ayyappa temple here today.
After performing a special ritual, Kalabahbhishekam, the Mandala Pooja, the pooja after adorning the Thanka Anki on the idol of Lord Ayyappa, was performed.
Prior to the pooja, a Kalabhakalasa pooja was conducted by Thantri Kandararu Maheswararu in the presence of Melsanthi N Balamurali at Nalambalam at 1130 hrs.
Though the temple was closed after the pooja, it would be reopened at 1500 hrs.
However, the temple would be closed at 11pm after athazha pooja and Harivarasanam tonight, marking the conclusion of the 41-days Mandalam festival season.
Makaravilaku season to begin on Dec 30: The temple will reopen for the 21-day Makaravilaku season at 5.30 p.m. on December 30. Kalabhabhishekam from Jan 1 to 14: Kalabhabhishekam will be conducted in the temple from January 1 to 14.
Makarasamkrama pooja: The auspicious Makarasamkrama pooja will be held at the temple at 12.58 am on January 15.
Makaravilaku on January 15: The annual Makaravilaku, after adorning Thiruvabharanam on the idol of Lord Ayyappa , will be conducted at 6.30 p.m. on January 15.
Procession from Malikappuram temple : The annual procession of Malikappuram Devi will be taken out from the temple from January 15 to January 19.
