Monday, December 26, 2011 : Admitting that the efforts taken by the Centre on the Mullaperiyar issue have not yielded any desired result, Defence Minister AK Antony today reiterated that the Centre would make effort to find an amicable solution to the issue.
Talking to reporters here, he, however said none of the political parties had clear stand on the Mullaperiyar issue and how it could be solved amicably.
Though political parties were raising their voice to find a solution to the 116-year-old Mullaperiyar Dam, which was in a dangerous condition following the frequent earthquakes recently, no one was suggesting how to solve the issue, he pointed out.
The recent agitation by various political parties in Kerala, led to a virtual conflict between Tamil Nadu and Kerala on the issue, as the political parties took their demonstration to road which in turn forced the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses to stop its service to Tamil Nadu following the attack on the buses.
However, Tamil Nadu government buses were plying services usually, as there was no attack by the agitators from Kerala, he said.
