NEW DELHI: The Rajasthan police registered a case against sons of former union ministers Vayalar Ravi and P Chidambaram in connection with the irregularities in the operation of 108 ambulance services. A case has also been registered against Shafi Mather, former economic advisor to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Vayalar Ravi’s son Ravi Krishna and Chidambaram’s son Karthi Chidambaram are the two included in the case.
A case has been registered against Rajasthan former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and former union minister Sachin Pilot for taking a favourable stand towards the company led by the two. The FIR was registered following a complaint by former Jaipur Municipal Corporation Mayor Pankaj Joshi. The case has been handed over to the crime branch.
A case has been registered against them for incurring financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 2.56 crores in operating '108' ambulance service during the previous Congress regime.
Similar complaints were raised in many states including Kerala. The charge of 108 ambulance services in Kerala was earlier given to their company. Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan had sought a high-level probe on the issue. Following the complaint, a probe is on. A controversy broke out in Kerala even after clarified that Shaffi Mather is not part of the company. The charge of the service in Kerala was given to a new company following the expiry of the contract.
