THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Commissioner Rishiraj Singh has given letter to the government, seeking extension of his leave by one more month.
It is reported that his move comes after the government interfered officially and cancelled the circular that made wearing of seat belt compulsory for those sitting on the rear seats of the car.
Apparently piqued by the government’s step, he has asked the government to extend his leave till July 13, though the leave ended on June 29.
Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhkrishnan, during the Assembly session, had stated that the government was withdrawing the Circular issued by Rishiraj Singh, considering its impracticality.
According to sources, he has informed his colleagues about his plans to step down as Transport Commissioner but the message is yet to be conveyed to the government.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Singh had given the letter four days ago. In the letter he had also expressed his interest to return to the Central government service.
