THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala is reportedly not in favour of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s move for a cabinet reshuffle. And, Chennithala will be flying to New Delhi Friday evening to convince the High Command that there is no need for Cabinet reshuffle. He will remind the high command of the earlier opinion of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and high command leaders that the existing Cabinet is the best team.
When Chandy visited New Delhi on June 2, he had got permission from Sonia Gandhi for restructuring the cabinet. But the topic was not discussed in State Congress or UDF committees. . Though the chief minister is in favour of making Ganesh Kumar a minister, Chennithala is against this.
At present, I Group ministers dominate the cabinet and if the cabinet is reshuffled, this proportion will change, a reason why I group has been opposing the move.
