KOCHI: Kerala High court has stated that the government doesn’t need to wait for the court’s permission to take action against accused Sub Inspectors (SIs) in law and order cases involving individuals.
The court made this observation while considering the petition filed by former Nedumangadu SI B Harikumar, questioning the government’s discretion to take action. The petition was dismissed by Justice P D Rajan.
The case dated Februray 17, 2007 is that a Congress worker was verbally abused and slapped on the face, when he was travelling on a bike. Harikumar had approached the high court against the government’s discretionary powers to initiate action against him.
