THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some unruly scenes were witnessed in the assembly at the end of the question hour on the Mullaperiyar issue. The opposition members trooped to the well of the house. The assembly proceedings were stalled for nearly twenty minutes.
Tamil Nadu at the meeting of the central water committee convened on December 27argued that they have the ownership rights of the Mullapperiyar, Thunakkadavu and Parambikkulam dams. Jameela Prakasham of the opposition lifting atop the minutes of the meeting said the irrigation chief engineer, who appeared for Kerala, did not oppose their argument. Uproar was witnessed when Irrigation Minister P J Joseph denied it. It ended after the chief minister intervened and promising to reply after examining the copy of the minutes.
