CBI to seek Interpol’s assistance in lottery case

Sunday, September 11, 2011: The Central Bureau of Investigation team probing the alleged irregularities involved in the sale of inter-state lottery in the State has decided to seek the assistance of Interpol.
The investigation team would seek INTERPOL’s held for extending the probe to Bhutan. The CBI team would travel abroad to interrogate the officials of Bhutan lotteries. The CBI has also send notices to lottery king Santiago Martin’s business partners directing them to appear before the probe team in Kochi for grilling.
CBI probe into alleged corruption and irregularities in running of Bhutan and Sikkim lotteries in Kerala by some lottery tycoons has been a long-pending demand of the state, supported by both the ruling UDF and the opposition LDF.
