Chennithala urges LDF to withdraw hartal

Sunday, September 18, 2011: KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala today urged the Left Democratic Front (LDF) to withdraw tomorrow’s dawn-to-dusk hartal programme called as a protest against the recent petrol price hike.
Speaking to the reporters here on Sunday, Chennithala warned the public to be cautious since the hartal could turn out to be violent. Hartal supporters on Saturday attacked 17 KSRTC buses in various parts of the capital city resulting in injuries to three bus drivers and a passenger in the hartal.
A KSEB electrical section office was also attacked resulting in injuries to one lineman. Normal life was affected in the district with shops and establishments remaining closed and KSRTC discontinuing services.
