Expert panel need Rs 2.98 crore to assess temple wealth

Tuesday, September 6, 2011: The Supreme Court-appointed expert panel has stated in its report that about Rs 2.98 crore is needed to meet the expenditure of taking inventory of the rare jewels found at the famed Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple.
The report that contains 70 pages falls into ten headings. The panel demands a period of one year to complete the assessment of jewels.
Presently, the gold ornaments and other precious jewels are kept in plastic bags in an iron box, which means a chance of corrosion is high.
