Palmolein case: CPM demands PC George’s resignation

Sunday, September 11, 2011: CPM veteran and Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan today came down heavily on Government chief Whip P.C George for his decision to file a complaint against the Vigilance Court Judge P.K Haneefa, who ordered for a further probe into the Palmolein import case.
Speaking to the reporters here on Sunday, VS alleged that the PC George had threatened the judiciary and must resign from his post. PC George has misused his power as chief whip, CPM leader told.
In a letter send to President Pratibha Devisingh Patel, Governor and Supreme Court Chief Justice, George alleged that the Vigilance judge had ordered a probe into the case without following the usual procedures.
The judge was deliberately trying to make Chief Minister Oommen Chandy an accused in the case, the letter alleged.
