Thursday, September 15, 2011: Two police personnel who allegedly tried to help the accused in the sensational Paravoor sex scandal case were suspended on Thursday.
The DGP issued the suspension order against assistant sub-inspector Jose and civil police officer Joy of North Paravoor police station after conducting an internal investigation into the complaint that the duo had collected Rs 52,000 from the accused in the case.
The policemen had reportedly taken money from the accused to get their names removed from the chargesheet.
There had been allegations that the local policemen who investigated the case in the initial stages allegedly tried to save several prominent persons in the case, which involves the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl by over 150 persons. Following the allegations, the state government had handed over the case to the Crime Branch.
