UDF distances itself from PC George’s complaint

Sunday, September 11, 2011: The United Democratic Front (UDF) on Sunday distanced itself from Chief whip P.C. George’s complaint against the Vigilance judge hearing the palmolein case, stating that the party had anything to do with it.
Speaking to the reporters here, Industries Minister PK Kunhalikutty opined that the UDF was not aware of PC George’s move to file a complaint against Judge P.K Haneefa. The complaint was personal, he said.
In a letter send to President Pratibha Devisingh Patel, Governor and Supreme Court Chief Justice, George alleged that the Vigilance judge had ordered a probe into the case without following the usual procedures.
The judge was deliberately trying to make Chief Minister Oommen Chandy an accused in the case, the letter alleged. George’s action has apparently embarrassed the Congress leadership.
