Congress thinks of taking over education department

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Highly reliable sources say that the Congress party in Kerala is looking forward to take over the Education Department, presently relished by IUML, in order to regain their lost face from the stigma of minority appeasement.

The move is interpreted as a part of bringing closer the distanced majority community to the ruling UDF ahead of Lok Sabha elections. The High Command of Congress has even instructed its Kerala unit to take procedures for winning the faith of majority community.

It is also learnt that a preliminary discussion on this was held at New Delhi the last week. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala had attended the talks.

The Congress leadership considers that the department which create headache for them is the Education Department. The alleged minority appeasement of the state government is often made public through certain procedures of the department. The reason for why community organizations like NSS and SNDP distance themselves from Congress is also none other.
