CPM to boycott all party meet
KANNUR: Decision has been taken in the CPM district committee meeting to boycott the all party meet convened by the district collector to reinstate peace in the district.
In the present scenario of CPM leaders being hunted by the cops, the committee has decided against attending the meet called over by Dr.Rathan Kelkar at 4 pm on Saturday.
CPM alleges the police to be blind to the atrocities committed by the Congress and the Muslim League in destroying many institutions functioning under CPM, like Thaliparambu Co-operative Hospital.
Many leaders of the party like Kannur area secretary N Chandran had been brutally assaulted by the police.
CPM alleged that the police are hunting down CPM activists under the pressure of Congress and the Muslim League and imposing upon them false cases including that of attempted murder. The presence of lady police officers which is mandatory while entering houses resided by women was also not observed during the raids.
The government has doubts whether the all party meet would serve its purpose without the presence of CPM, but all the other major political parties have assured their stance of full co-operation in reinstating peace in the district.
The CPM district secretariat has begun in the presence of state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan.
