Nelliyampathy forest land, government affidavit

KOCHI: The state government has submitted  counter affidavit in the high court in 16 cases pertaining to the estates in Rajakkad, Cherunelli and Maankaad stating that the estates in Nelliyampathy is forest land.

According to the records in the village office, all the 25 estates had been proclaimed forest land as per the notification issued in 1909.

The Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 makes centre’s approval mandatory for every transaction.  

The opinion of the forest department has also been included in the affidavit.
