Calf with two mouths surprises vets

KANNUR: Veterinary doctors of Pattuvam near Thalipraramba are puzzled at the sight of a new-born calf which has two mouths, two eyes and an empty eye socket. The doctors who checked the calf, which was born on September 5, said it was a miracle it was still surviving. Very often they do not live beyond two days. They breathe their last immediately after birth and most of such calves are taken out using c-section. However, the healthy mother gave normal delivery to the calf at the house of M Kannan of Parapool near Pattuvam around 0900 hrs on September 5. Veterinary Doctor E Soya said it was a genetic problem and its survival was a miracle.
