Number of bullet tankers from Mangalore to be cut down: IOC

KOCHI: Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Thursday said they would cut down the number of bullet tankers from Mangalore as a safety measure and also to overcome additional expenditure.

IOC chief A. Pandiyan said they would buy maximum LPG from Cochin Refinery and use it in their bottling plants at Kochi and Kollam. IOC will buy LPG from other states only if they fail to get it from Cochin Refinery.

Pandiyan revealed that the domestic consumption of LPG in Kerala is more when compared to those in other states. The annual domestic consumption in Kerala now is 60,000 tonnes, which was 40,000 tonnes during 2006-2007.
