Five held for Nazeer murder

The men had attempted to assault Nazeer more than 12 times in the past one week and succeeded on Saturday when the victim was returning from his house, the police said.

City Police Commissioner G Sparjan Kumar said that Nazeer maintained a secret relationship with a woman, a relative of Hisham, at the Shanti Nagar Residential Colony in Chevayur.

Investigators are also finding out whether Hisham has any kind of financial dealings with Nazeer.

Investigators also do not rule out the possibility of the group blackmailing Nazeer for some specific reasons.

The police team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) Prince Abraham and Chevayur CI Prakashan, Medical College CI Premdas and Nadakkavu CI Santhosh are probing the case under the supervision of the City Police Commissioner.

Hours after getting elected as the secretary of Malabar Chamber of Commerce, Nazeer was found dead on the roadside at Chevarambalam early on Saturday.
