The CPM district committee said gopinath's honour was welcome and it was understood that gopinath's example would be adopted by several more Congress leaders.Former DCC chairperson and MLA AV Gopinath left the party after he was dropped from the post of DCC chairperson. Gopinath told a news conference that he had not considered joining the other party soon. But there are rumours that Gopinath has held discussions with CPM leaders.
