‎Covid spread is rampant: Street trade banned at Kannur Corporation‎

 ‎Kannur: The corporation and the police with strict security arrangements within the kannur corporation limits, where the spread of covid is severe. Street trade has been banned in Kannur Corporation for those who are onam. A temporary ban on street trading was imposed because of the gathering of people. In the meantime, the Police of The City also came out with a precautionary notice to keep the Ona celebrations safe.‎


‎City Police Commissioner R Elangovan directed police stations under kannur city police commissioner's jurisdiction to tighten restrictions as part of mob control and strict implementation of covid norms. As part of this, 45 mobile patrols, 19 bike patrols, 46 foot patrol team and 61 picket posts will be provided under Kannur city police limits. Special attention will be paid to the police in entertainment centres where the public is likely to arrive in large numbers. The services of 52 student police cadet pioneer group members will be provided during this onam period for police duty assistance under city police limits.‎


‎Members of the Student Police Cadet Pioneer Group have offered to do duty with the police during Onam. 6 mobile patrols and 20 bike patrols will be introduced in all police station limits for monitoring government offices, financial institutions and businesses which are closed due to continuous public holidays. Police forces in the district have been mobised and 620 police personnel will be deployed for various duties during Onam. The police will give importance to controlling congestion in public places in the lead-up to Onam. Foot patrols will be strongly implemented for this purpose. Strict restrictions will continue in areas with high covid diagnosis rates and the cantonment zone.

Wear masks accurately in public places, maintain social distance, and sanitise your hands.‎ ‎Business establishments should act in accordance with the covid standards.‎ ‎Must keep the presence in the business establishments.‎ ‎Those who do not wear masks accurately should not be admitted to businesses.‎ ‎Avoid crowds. Control the entry of young children and the elderly into public places.‎ ‎The police said that if the police notice the business establishments and individuals who do not meet the covid norms, they will register cases under KEDO and take steps to cancel the license of businesses by charging fine.‎
