25-35% rise in salary for employees of private hospitals

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A decision has been taken by the labour department and hospital managements to raise the salary of employees including nurses of private hospitals to 25-35%. The new pay revision will come into effect from January 2013.

The basic salary of nurses in multi-specialty hospitals would be Rs 12,916. Their allowances will be increased by Rs 500 to 1250.

Employees working in 20-bedded hospitals will get a 25% rise in their salaries, 31% hike for employees in 25-100 bedded hospitals and 35% rise for those working in 800-bedded hospitals.

Rs 6000 will be given as stipend to those coming under the general nursing section and Rs 6500 to those under the BSc nursing section.
