Efforts taken to saffronize Sivagiri, says Pinarayi

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan harshly criticized the sanyasis of the Sivagiri Mutt in connection with the visit of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Pinarayi alleged that some sanyasis are trying to saffronize Sivagiri.  They are trying to eradicate the teachings of Guru and bring back Chathuvarnyam (the four castes of the Hindu community).

Pinarayi said this while inaugurating a protest strike in front of the secretariat against Modi’s visit to Sivagiri. They will not become sanyasis by just wearing the dress, he said.
