Man held on charge of sexually assaulting girl

 
KANHANGAD: The police arrested a 45-year-old labourer accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl here recently. Maruthi from Davangere in Karnataka was arrested on a complaint by his wife’s younger sister that he had sexually assaulted her daughter. He was nabbed from the town late on Sunday night. The complaint said a medical examination had established that the girl was sexually assaulted. The accused had committed the violation in their house at Alamipally locality here a few days ago. The girl had complained of severe pain in the abdomen. The man went absconding and was trapped on being called by his close friend to reach the town. A court in Kasaragod remanded him in judicial custody for two weeks. The police have registered a case under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012.
