KOLLAM: The Paripally police have arrested a fake astrologer for allegedly cheating a childless couple by accepting an amount of Rs 15 lakhs from them in the guise of doing poojas for them to have a baby. When the couple demanded their money back, they were locked in his house.
The arrested has been identified as Nalinan Potty of Kalluvathukkal. He had an astrology unit named Nalinan Potty Jyothishalayam near the Karikkakom Temple in the capital city.
The couple and their family, natives of the couple, were cheated when the unit was functioning there. Potty accepted Rs 15 lakhs in installments in the guise of doing poojas for them to have a baby. When nothing positive happened, the couple demanded their money back. As per his instruction, the couple went to his house in Kalluvathukkal yesterday. A verbal dispute broke out between them and in the end, the couple and his relatives were locked in his house. The police were informed and he was taken into custody.
