THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has said that only a good man become a good communist. “In CPM, decisions are taken jointly by the party leaders. Different opinions may emerge. That is natural and it shows that the party has life. When a general opinion is moulded out from diverse ones, it becomes party’s decision,” he said on Saturday, taking part in a face-to-face programme organised by Kesari Memorial Trust.
Informing that the party has taken decisions on the issues raised by Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, after discussions, Yechury said, the campaign that he had no support from Kerala faction is false. “It is just a story created by the media. The general secretary was elected unanimously,” he said.
The veteran leader said the party welcomed the preparedness of certain ex-LDF partners to return to the Front. It would be viewed positively.
Yechury also spared some time to criticise the Modi government. “Modi government is adopting anti-farmer policies. Agitation against the Centre will be intensified in Parliament. Politburo will meet on May 16-17 to chart out agitation plans,” he said, adding, “though Janata parties have united, their policies need more clarity”.
