KOCHI: Even as the standoff in the Parippally IOC plant over renewal of truck owners’ agreement continued for the 19th day, the government maintained its silence over the issue. Neither the district administration nor the government has come forward to sort out the issue, which has resulted in throwing the distribution of LPG in the south Kerala out of gear.
Even after the time limit for renewing the trucker owners’ agreement expired three weeks ago, the government has not come forward to lift a finger to solve the crisis.
The government officials have pointed out that technical reasons are what prevent them from intervening in the agreement between IOC and truck owners.
Kollam district collector Kausik last week called the meeting of truck owners and IOC plant managers to arrive at a compromise. Apart from this, no action has come from government officials.
Meanwhile, the chief minister was apprised of the situation in Parippally and Udayampoor on Friday after which the chief secretary gave instructions for holding compromise talks but no decision was taken to end agreement issue in Parippally.
