Saritha was sexually abused, says magistrate before solar commission

KOCHI: Former additional chief judicial magistrate N V Raju told before the Solar Commission that Saritha S Nair, accused in the solar case, had revealed to him that she was sexually abused. When asked whether she was raped, she said yes, said Raju.

“I spoke to her for hardly five to six minutes. She had revealed the names of just one or two out of the many who sexually abused her. Those names were not familiar and so I don’t remember it. As I was involved in some other job, I didn’t notice the names. As I was not directly involved in the case, I didn’t register the complaint. She was brought to the Ernakulam court to produce her in some economic offence.  A case is usually registered as per the situation and behavior. I asked her to give a written complaint after she said she was raped. Perumbavur DySP and assistant public prosecutor came to meet me and asked whether she mentioned the names of any top persons.  I told them that her statement was registered," Raju told before the Sivarajan Commission.

When Saritha was produced at the Economic Offence Court in Ernakulam on July 20 in 2013, she informed magistrate Raju that she has to reveal some things secretly. Following that on the same day in the afternoon, I heard her complaint in a closed court.  But nothing was recorded. I later suggested her to give it in writing. Though some things in the written complaint were carried in some media, it was all rubbish, the magistrate said.
