Departmental inquiry against Jacob Job; suspension to continue

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala government has decided to initiate departmental inquiry against former Thrissur commissioner Jacob Job for allegedly trying to blackmail State Police Chief K S Balasubramanian in connection with controversial  businessman Nisham Muhammed.

After the departmental inquiry is over, Job will be served with Charge Memo prior to the departmental action. Intelligence chief A Hemachandran had found out that conspiracy was hatched to mortify DGP in the public and he had suggested a detailed probe in this regard. The government order for departmental inquiry followed this suggestion.

In the report submitted by Hemachandran, it is said that acting with vengeance and with the aim to get his suspension revoked, Job had called up former DGP Krishna Moorthy and recorded the conversation. He later leaked it to create the impression that DGP was corrupt. These acts were serious breach of discipline.

Job also had information about police officers who had taken bribe from Nisham. His reluctance to act against them has also put him under the cloud of suspicion As per government’s suggestion, top officials will probe Job’s case. He will be under suspension till the probe ends. Job’s service term will end in March 2018.
