VS openly bats for Yechury

VISAKHAPATNAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan openly wished politburo member Sitaram Yechury frontrunner for the post of CPI (M) general secretary. He wished Yechury when he met him while leaving from the hotel to the meet venue. He favored Yechury for the post and sought more youngsters in the leadership.

The two leaders went together for the meeting venue.

VS’ move has shocked everybody in the midst of more supporting SRP for the post. VS had always supported Yechury and it is the same with the latter also.  When the state faction came to the fore strongly seeking action against VS, Yechury’s stand was crucial. Unofficial discussions have started from morning itself to choose the new secretary.

Former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya and Nirupam Sen, absent due to health reasons, have proposed the name of Yechury. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is also hinted to be supporting Yechury. Meantime, Prakash Karat and SRP met Manik to dissuade him from his stand.
