Asset case: Vigilance gets bank's CCTV visuals

Kochi: The Vigilance has obtained evidence over its claim that the bank lockers of K Babu and his wife were emptied earlier itself.

The CCTV visuals obtained from SBT Thrippunithara branch showed Babu's wife opening the locker and shifting the items one month before the raid at Babu's house.

The vigilance examined the lockers after a month as part of the probe.

The probe team was  unable to find anything suspicious. The vigilance had seized around 300 sovereigns of gold from K Babu and from his relatives lockers.

The vigilance raided the premises of former excise minister K Babu and his relatives residence in connection with a disproportionate asset case against him.

Officials said the raids were being conducted after FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by a Thrippunithara-based anti- corruption organisation against the former minister.
