KOZHIKODE: BDJS Sate president Thushar Vellapally has been elected the convenor of National Democratic Front (NDA). The decision was taken in the NDA leadership meet held in Kozhikode.
Founder of Janapathya Rashtreeya Sabha party and Adivasi Gotra Mahasabha leader C K Janu and former JSS leader A N Rajan Babu will be co-convenors. In the committee, there will be 12 members including O Rajagopal MLA.
Earlier, BDJS had demanded the convenor post of the Kerala unit of the NDA but the decision was not taken as it was opposed by the BJP.
But the present decision came after Amit Shah intervened and the State BJP leadership gave in to his recommendation.
Moreover, Shah and the party insiders evaluated that rejecting BDJS’ demand would be a setback to the BJP-BDJS alliance, as the BDJS had been openly saying that the BJP didn’t keep its promise.
A consensus was also reached in the meeting to expand the functioning of NDA’s Kerala Unit and extend it to grass root level.
