India wasn’t serious about Headley’s extradition: WikiLeaks

Sunday, September 4, 2011: New revelations in a US cable released by Wikileaks state that India was never really serious about 26/11 accused David Coleman Headley’s extradition.
The cable says that in December 2009, former national security adviser MK Narayanan had told the then US ambassador to India Timothy Roemer that New Delhi’s demand for extraditing Headley was mere posturing.
Narayanan is also reported saying that the government was just trying to mislead the Indian public, and it was not seriously seeking his extradition at the time. The cable also says that Roemer advised Narayanan not to seek Headley’s extradition as it would not be feasible for decades due to US laws.
