SC should review decision on endosulfan export: Cong

October 01, 2011: Senior Congress leader and former minister V M Sudheeran today said the Supreme court should review its decision permitting export of 1090.6 tonnes of endosulfan pesticide.
Welcoming the total ban of Endosulfan by the apex court, Sudheeran said in a statement here that exported pesticide might find its way back into the country in different forms and names. Hence, it would be appropriate to ban the export of the pesticides already in the possession of the manufacturers in the country, he said.
Pointing that allowing the export of the pesticide when it was banned in the country, was not proper ethically.
The national human rights commission and the state government in collaboration with the local self government institutions jointly should implement a total package for the rehabilitation of the victims of endosulfan, he said.
