Monday, October 3, 2011: Actor Suresh Gopi withdrew his plan to go on
a hunger strike against state and central government authorities,
alleging that they have gobbled up the project of 50 crores cinema
complex at the Tagore Theatre premises in Thiruvananthapuram.
He has decided to withdraw strike plan following talks with Chief
Minister Oommen Chandy. CM has called for a meeting on October 10 to
discuss about modernization works of Tagore Theatre. Suresh Gopi’s
announcement to go for hunger strike comes after the news that the
project has been cancelled due to some unknown reasons.
On Friday, Suresh Gopi had held press meet at his residence in
Sasthamangalam, where he announced his decision to go on hunger strike.
Suresh Gopi revealed that he will stage dharna and hunger strike on
October 4 in front of Tagore Hall and would fight for a sophisticated
cinema complex.
