Varapuzha sex scandal; Sobha John brought to Kochi

Wednesday, October 05, 2011: Sobha John, the prime accused in the sensational Varapuzha sex scandal case, in which a 16-year-old girl was sold for Rs one lakh by her relatives, has been brought to Kochi today.
Sobha was arrested on Tuesday by a 10-member police team led by Ernakulam rural SP Harshita along with five others from Bangalore. During preliminary interrogation Sobha is said to have confessed before the probe team about her involvement in the case.
Sobha informed that she had surrendered before investigation team. The Varapuzha case involves a 16-year-old girl who was rescued from a brothel recently. According to police, the girl was sold by her parents to Sobha John for Rs 1 lakh at Thiruvananthapuram last year.
The girl had confirmed the involvement of Shobha John in the case. The girl was allegedly sold for Rs one lakh by her parents to Shobha John last year in Thiruvananthapuram. Police had arrested the girl along with two others from Varapuzha.
As many as 21 persons have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
