Has not met Kiliroor victim, says Ajitha

November 06, 2011: Former Naxal leader and President of Anweshi K Ajitha today said that she had not met the Kiliroor case victim Shari while she was under treatment at the hospital.
Ajitha was responding to Dr. Shankaran’s statement given before Thiruvananthapuram CBI Court on Saturday. “Even though I had gone to visit Shari at the hospital, I was denied permission”, she said while addressing the reporters here on Sunday.
The doctors had informed that Shari’s condition worsened soon after some VIPs visited her, Ajitha said. Some of the CBI findings are wrong and hence a further probe must be conducted into the sensational Kiliroor case, she added.
Earlier Dr. Shankaran had informed the CBI court that some VIPs including CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan, PK Sreemathy and K Ajitha had visited Shari while she was under treatment.

Meanwhile the parents of Shaari, the Kiliroor sex scandal victim had earlier approached the CBI Court here seeking further investigation into the case. The petition has been moved by the victim’s family along with action committee convener Raju Puzhangara informing that the ongoing investigation was not at all satisfactory.
The petition also demands a thorough probe into the alleged ‘VIP link’ in the sex scandal case. CBI court had earlier ruled out the controversial ‘VIP link’ in the sensational Kiliroor sex scandal case in which Shaari, a teenaged unwed mother had died at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital on 13th November 2004.
Meanwhile the ninth witness has turned hostile in the sensational case in which a girl named Shaari, was sexually exploited by many after offering her roles in television serials.
The witness identified as Ramani, neighbour of Shari has backtracked from her statement given to the CBI team investigating the case. Ramani had earlier given statements that she had seen several strangers including Latha Nair going to the Shari’s house.
But, she retracted her statements before the CBI court here saying that she had not seen them and was never interrogated by the probe team.
Omanakutty, the prime witness in the sensational Kiliroor sex scandal case had earlier identified the accused who sexually exploited a girl named Shari, after offering her roles in television serials.
According to the police, the girl was lured into sex trade by her aunt and accomplices, including Latha Nair, who were part of a sex racket. The girl was taken to various places, both inside and outside the State, with the offers of chances in television serials.
The accused in the case are are Praveen, 24, and Manoj, 19, both conductors attached to the Guruvayur depot of the Kerala State Transport Corporation (KSRTC); Latha Nair of Mallappalli; Binu alias Kochumon, 30, of Kottayam; Prasanth, 23, conductor at the KSRTC Guruvayur depot; Somanathan alias Soman, 46, of Kumali; Abdul Lathif alias Collector Lathif, 52, and V.K. Devadas, 47.
During the case trial Omanakutty gave statements that the accused had sexually exploited the victim at four places including Palani and Guruvayur and Edappaly in Ernakulam.
The investigation had revealed that Kochumon had introduced the girl to Latha Nair, who was supposed to get her a role in serials and album, in August 2003.
When she got pregnant, she was referred to the Medical College.
She had been diagnosed as suffering from acute intestinal obstruction.
She was later discharged form the hospital in August 28, 2004. Later, she was admitted to the Carithas Hospital in Kottayam, though the doctors at the private hospital had recommended that she be taken to the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences.
However, she was admitted to the Matha Hosptial, Thellakam in Kottayam. The doctors there found that she was suffering from acute intestinal obstruction.
