Oppn moves adjournment motion over unruly remarks


Thursday, November 03, 2011: The CPM opposition today demanded that they be allowed to move an adjournment motion in connection with the controversial remark by Minister KB Ganesh Kumar and Chief Whip PC George against CPM stalwart VS Achuthanandan and CPM MLA AK Balan.
Replying to the adjournment motion moved by Deputy leader of opposition Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy opined that he had not yet received any complaints regarding the alleged casteist remarks by Govt. Chief Whip against Balan.
Following this the Speaker G Karthikeyan denied the permission to entertain the adjournment motion and the Assembly was adjourned till 11 am amid the LDF protests.

LDF opposition today protested during question hour session in the Kerala Assembly in connection with the unruly remarks.The opposition members raised placards demanding removal of Chief Whip and the Minister who made led comments while attending a public meeting in Pathanapuram.
The opposition members have not disrupted the Assembly proceedings until now. Meanwhile the LDF has decided to boycott all official functions involving State Government Chief Whip PC George and Forest Minister KB Ganesh Kumar.
PC George on October 27 had allegedly made a casteist remark against Balan at a public meeting in Pathanapuram in Kollam district. It was the same meeting where Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar (Kerala Congress-B) had fulminated in vulgar language against Achuthanandan.
Kumar had earlier expressed regret over his speech after LDF and its feeder outfits came out in strong protest over his lewd comments against the 88-year-old CPI (M) leader.
Meanwhile the LDF meeting convened here has decided to seek legal redressal against Government Chief Whip PC George for his casteist remarks against MLA and CPM state secretariat member AK Balan.
