Murder of Chandrasekharan: Police identifies culprits

KANNUR/KOZHIKODE: The police team investigating the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T.P. Chandrasekharan has identified the murderers including the main accused in the case, Rafeeq. They were seven including Rafeeq in the gang who brutally murdered the beloved leader of Onchiyam.

The police team has reached Mysore in search of Rafeeq. Four of the accused are from Kannur, Panur and Chokli. It is suspected that some of them have fled to Mumbai after the incident. Investigation is expected to be extended to Mumbai.

It is learnt that Rafeeq, who was at places near Panur and Chokli till Saturday noon, left for Karnataka via Wayanad that evening. The police had questioned two persons who helped him escape to Wayanad. Both of them are now at custody, sources said. Rafeeq was given Rs 5000 by a friend before he moved to Wayanad.

The police also got information of the involvement of Kodi Sunil, the head of the gang including Rafeeq. Sunil was an accused in the Jayakrishnan murder case.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that the real culprits will be brought before the people.

Chandrasekharan was hacked to death by a killer gang of seven late Friday night when he was returning home alone on a motorbike near Vadakara. In what seemed to be a handiwork of professional killers, Chandrasekharan was hacked in the face and head at least 50 times.
