Palmolein case: Vigilance court verdict on May 24
THRISSUR: The Thrissur Vigilance Court will pronounce its decision on the petitions filed by opposition leader V S Achuthanandan and BJP leader Alphons Kannanthanam in the 1992 palmolein import corruption case on May 24. The hearing on the petitions filed by Achuthanandan and Kannanthanam challenging a report of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB), which had given a clean chit to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the deal, concluded on Thursday. M K Unnikrishnan, counsel for Kannanthanam, urged the court to try Chandy in the palmolein case. He argued that the available evidence and materials were sufficient to prove Chandy's involvement in the corruption case.
