KU new degree courses: Academic council to be informed of concerns


The Kerala University Senate meeting decided to bring to the notice of the Academic Council the concerns regarding  awarding of recognition to various degree courses.  A committee headed by Pro Vice-Chancellor J Prabhash has been entrusted with the task of providing suggestions to improve the transparency and efficiency of the procedures.  The meeting approved a resolution moved by M Shahul Hameed to uphold and protect the administrative and academic autonomy of the Kerala University.  “The central purchase system came into existence in the KU from August 1,” Syndicate member R S Sasikumar said in reply to a question posed by Vetturoad Vijayan.  “Since the new Syndicate came into being, 660 cases of examination malpractice have been reported and of this, 645 cases have been disposed,” Syndicate member B K Jamalkunju said.  It has come into notice that instances of copying have increased in some self-financing colleges. “The working of the malpractice detection squad will be intensified in these colleges,” he said.

The Senate approved the annual report of 2011 and audit report of 2008-09 of the Kerala University.
