School students get a glimpse of film-making

“In the making of a film, a definite plan should be made and it should be strictly followed from the beginning itself. When a director makes such an effort, he will be having an idea regarding the whole state of affairs related to the making of the film,” said actor and director of Priyadarshini Film Institute Raveendran while conducting a one-day workshop for school students at Adhyapaka Bhavan in the city on the topic ‘Production process and roles and responsibilities’ on Thursday.



In the workshop, he explained the five major steps in film-making - development; pre-production; production; post-production; and marketing and distribution. The development stage is an incubation period of choosing talented personnel for each job. In pre-production stage, primary planning takes place and one needs to be prepared to tackle the unexpected here.

Production stage is all about realising the script into a film. A film would be born in the mind of its makers here. A compilation phase is happening at the post-production stage. Technical and aesthetic qualities are sharpened here. The marketing and distribution stage aims to reach out to the audience. 

Student representatives from all districts in the State were present at the workshop.

The programme was jointly organised by State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET), National Service Scheme of Higher Secondary Education and Directorate of Environment and Climate Change.

SIET director Babu Sebastian inaugurated the programme. Directorate of Environment and Climate Change director P Sreekantan Nair delivered the keynote address and deputy director of Higher Secondary Education Subairkutty presided over.
