Left Right Left' out from Malabar

Kozhikode: The unofficial ban on Malayalam film `Left Right Left' which is alleged to be insulting CPM leaders albeit symbolically, was complete in Malabar as the film is out of the zone except in one theatre at Edappal in Malappuram. It says the story of murder politics and about rebels in CPM. There are allegations that the film puts Pinarayi Vijayan and VS Achuthanandan in a wrong light.

There are allegations that the character Kaitheril Sahadevan resembles Pinarayi Vijayan and another character S.R of opposition leader VS Achuthanandan. The film, which can be called a social political thriller, carries the current CPM politics. Director Arun Kumar Aravind and lead actor Murali Gopi said nothing was done intentionally. He said there is a hidden agenda on banning the the film from Malabar alone and it is not such a political thriller as alleged.

The silent move against the film first began in Thalassery, as the theater owners were reluctant to exhibit the film. In Kannur the film stopped screening on the second day. In Kozhikode the film was shown in a theatre of KFDC and Kairali. In the name of renovation works in Sree, the film was later removed from Kairali too.

Earlier, exhibitors federation had given instruction to theaters owners that they should be ready to face risks in showing the film on the basis of reports that the film might incite provocation .

Liberty Basheer, president of the federation, said there is no ban on the film as such but they only tried to warn theatre owners.
