Murali blames police for lapses in solar case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lapses have been noticed on the side of police in connection with the investigation in the solar case, said K Muraleedharan MLA.

Talking to reporters here, he said many complaints have been leveled against the police investigation in the case.

Murali said only Tenny Joppan, former personal assistant of the chief minister, had been arrested in the case. It is the lapse of the police not arresting Jikku Mon and the chief minister’s gunman Salim Raj. Joppan has made only 300 phone calls whereas Jikku Mon and Salim Raj who made 400 calls are walking freely. The people will look at the government suspiciously if this is allowed.

The CDs of the call lists missing from the home department are a serious fault and it should be seriously examined. Some in the police department are trying to save accused in the solar case. It is not correct to say the investigation is not satisfied, but a section in the department is trying to disrupt it. The chief minister and the government should decide what type of investigation is needed.

Murali said it has to be suspected whether a conspiracy has been hatched by the police on the police grenade which burst near opposition leader V S Achuthanandan while delivering a speech.

A setback would be witnessed in the Lok Sabha polls if an investigation is not conducted after closing the loopholes, he added.

There is no cabinet reshuffle and no change in leadership. The government will go forward under the leadership of Chandy, he said.

Majority of the MLAs are against the Aranmula Airport. There is a need to develop the existing airports in the state, he pointed out.
