Opined on Attappady not after looking files, says Chandy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that he opined after understanding the problems of the tribals in Attappady. He reiterated that the problems in Attappady cannot be solved in a day.

He said this while reacting to the interview given for an English magazine that infant deaths occur as the people here don’t eat properly.

Chandy said, “I don’t take decisions by looking into files, I make statements after understanding the situation by doing field work. I just expressed the emotions of the people in Attappady. Free rations are given to the tribals in Attappady but they are not eating that. They later asked for ragi and even that was also provided.”
