December 6, 2011: Prohibitory orders were clamped for three days in Kumily town on Kerala-Tamil Nadu Border following stray incidents of violence last night over Mullaperiyar Dam issue.
However, police said there would not be any problem for the smooth passage of Sabarimala pilgrims coming from the neighbouring states.
The District Collector declared prohibitory orders under Sec 144 in eight wards in Kumaly and Karunapuram Panchayats.
People agitating on Mullaperiyar issue started pelting stones and attacking vehicles following report that Keralities and their vehicles were being attacked at Cumbum and other areas in Tamil Nadu last evening. Police said the situation was under control now.
