Metro Station at Jos Junction likely

KOCHI: The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has plans to construct a new station for the proposed Kochi Metro Rail at Jos Junction. Consequently, the Maharaja’s College station, which was part of the old plan, will be relocated to the Mullassery Canal Road in order to avoid 2 closely-placed stations.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting conducted in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.
It was also decided that the Kochi Corporation, Public Works Department, Kerala Water Authority and the Kerala State Electricity Board must file a report to the KMRL authorities before May 23 regarding the relocation of utilities. The KMRL will consequently direct the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) regarding the steps to be taken.
Meanwhile, Vyttila Mobility Hub Society Managing Director M Beena stated that expert evaluation should be done on the proposed station at the mobility hub.
A special unit has been designated with this work. Further measures will be taken based on the report filed by this unit.
